Wikiriwhi Scholarship
Wikiriwhi Scholarship
As orientations take place across the country at countless tertiary institutes Whitecliffe College of Arts & Design used theirs as the perfect staging to announce the winner of
the 2010 Wikiriwhi Scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded to a top student who not only shows immense talent but who goes the extra mile to help others and is someone Whitecliffe is proud to stand behind.
First awarded in 1983, the Wikiriwhi scholarship has grown both in stature and prestige and the 2010 prize is the biggest yet; it is a trip to Montclair State University in New Jersey, USA.
This year's winner is Birkenhead local Kieran Keat. Not only is Kieran a loving father of five year old Luca, he is also a promising artist who is currently completing his fourth
year in the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in Fine Arts. With a keen eye for the unusual, Kieran has been pushing artistic boundaries from the time he started at
Whitecliffe in 2006 as a Foundation student and last year one of his works was used as a full page advertisement for the Whitecliffe Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Kieran will travel to the USA over the Easter holiday break. Whilst there he will attend art classes, have a chance to paint with some New York artists and visit the galleries of New York to take time out to view major works that to date he has only seen in reproduction.
On his return Kieran will not only be the envy of all his peers but will also be presenting a visual report of his trip.
