WHAT WE DO

Current services/products

• Art All (approaching its 100th issue) is a quarterly magazine that goes out free to members and to paying subscribers. Content includes: reviews; regional news i.e. regional artworker profile; professional advice articles (legal, contracts, tax, marketing etc); craft/object, international and education news; Opportunities, both national and international, etc
• Appliance : began as a supplement to the magazine (issue #53 March/April 2002). This publication lists shows at artist run spaces and covers editorial of interest to younger, new graduates and emerging artists. From February 2008 Appliance has been a stand alone publication and is published six times a year.
• The artists’ workbook. An inquiry tool: professional development for visual artists (October 2002) Now in its fourth edition this resource is available at a special price to members. Content includes sections on the visual arts landscape; professional strategy; business practice; relationships; communications and resources.
• Code of Practice for Artists and Dealers (September 2005). Content includes: Copyright, Contracts, Artist’s obligations, Exhibitions, Artwork sales and management, Exterior exhibition and funding, Useful websites. Member discount applies.
• Getting Art There: An Artist’s Marketing Manual. This publication, developed by our Australian colleagues at NAVA, deals with the marketing not only of cultural products but also of services and ideas. Special price for Artists Alliance members.
• www.artistsalliance.org.nz launched mid 2003.
• Monthly email newsletter for www.artistsalliance.org.nz launched in February 2006.
• Intern Programme established 2001. Mentoring Programme piloted in 2005. (currently under redevelopment) Tertiary Membership Programme launched in 2008. See www.watchthisspace.org.nz
• A monthly email newsletter for www.watchthisspace.org.nz launched in 2008.
• Other services include advice on insurance, health and safety, finances (incl. GST), funding and sponsorship, CV preparation, contracts and other legal issues. If we don’t know the answer, we find someone who does.
