What is Artists Alliance?

Artists Alliance is the national organisation for visual artists. Established in 1991, Artists Alliance has represented and advanced the professional interests of the visual artists of Aotearoa/New Zealand for 20 years. In providing resources, career advice, networks and advocacy, Artists Alliance is the trusted source of information for the visual arts sector. 

What does Artists Alliance do?

Artists Alliance offers services and resources to visual artists and the visual arts community.
A membership-based organisation, Artists Alliance currently has a network of roughly 700 members nationwide, made up of individual artists, arts workers, tertiary institutions and other arts organisations. Being plugged into this national network of artists and organisations is one of the main benefits of being an Artists Alliance member.

Reasons for becoming a member:

• Receive four issues of Art All magazine per year
  
• Receive a monthly e-newsletter, as well as regular regional updates, specific to your area
  
• Advertise & promote your events and exhibitions via the website, e-newsletters and magazine
  
• Access to the members-only section of the Artists Alliance website containing; news, reviews, events and exhibition guide, resources, articles on arts law, copyright and marketing.
  
• Access to opportunities: the members section is a source of opportunities for artists in the form of awards, employment, residencies, competitions and much more. Artists Alliance make sure the information listed is reliable, relevant and up-to-date. 
• Discounts on Artists Alliance publications: The Code of Practice for Artists and Dealers and Getting Art There - An Artist's Marketing Manual.
  
• Access to knowledge and advice from our experienced staff
  
• Be plugged into the national arts network through membership with Artists Alliance
  

Artists Alliance also holds workshops throughout New Zealand (often in association with their organisational members); runs both a mentoring and an internship programme (currently piloting in Auckland only) and takes an active leadership role in arts advocacy issues throughout New Zealand.
