  welcome
Artists Alliance is a membership based organisation established in 1991 as a not-for-profit society to represent and advance the professional interests of the visual artists of Aotearoa/New Zealand.

The Oily Rag Project
The Oily Rag Project is a documentation of 22 projects that have been affordable to both individual artists as well as groups. Each case study profiled includes:

• Aims
• Those involved
• Venue
• Timeframe
• Costs
• Funding
• Promotion
• Audience
• Post exhibition/event reflections
• Contact details

By documenting these projects Artists Alliance seeks to inspire and motivate artists to get their work and ideas ‘out there’. The case studies prove that having little or no money should not be a barrier for artists wanting to put their art out into the community, irrespective of their intent, be it sale of work or wanting to engage an audience with a particular concept.

The Oily Rag Project was funded by Auckland City Creative Communities.
